3 Steps To Repairing Your Xbox 360

by Jeff on September 23, 2009

I have had some problems with my Xbox 360 so I did some research I found a great article on how to fixes for you to use.

If you are having problems getting your Xbox 360 to work, your success largely depends on your problem solving methods. The only way to quickly troubleshoot and fix your Xbox is to be methodical and logical. This article will show you how to do this in three steps that are simple to follow.

1. Diagnose what went wrong with your Xbox. This may be the most important step, get it wrong and a lot of time and possibly money is wasted. Take note of the number of lights flashing on the front of your console. How many are there?

If only one red light is on, your Xbox has a hardware failure. Two indicates that your Xbox is overheating. If there are three flashing red lights (red ring of death), then you have either a hardware failure or the power supply isn’t providing sufficient power. Four lights indicates that there’s a loose AV cable.

2. Decide on your course of action. There are three options to consider here.

First, if your warranty is still valid, you can send it back to Microsoft for repair or replacement. This option will cost you time (up to 4 to 5 weeks) and money (shipping and handling fees).

Second, if your warranty is expired or invalid, Microsoft will do the repairs for $140 or you can pay even more money to have a repair service fix your Xbox. The third and last option is for you to fix your console yourself. You’d be surprised at how quickly and easily this can be done provided that you have a good repair guide to follow.

3.) Finally, you will have to take action and make it happen. If you are going to ship it back to Microsoft, give their customer service a call to get shipping instructions. If you’d like to use a repair service, go online and search for one that is local.

If you would rather do the repairs yourself, look for a quality repair guide that you can download instantly off the Internet so that no time is lost. Using the right guide can have you up and going in under an hour or two.
